An elderly grandfather and a ten-year-old boy meet by chance on New Year’s Eve in the courtyard of a house. Grandfather recalls how, as an eight-year-old, he lived in besieged Leningrad and accidentally found the dog of a deceased officer. And his whole family was faced with a choice between friendship with their new pet and survival.

Director Biography – Ilya Severov
Born on July 26, 1983 in Leningrad. In 2004, he graduated from the St. Petersburg State Academy of Theater Arts, the acting course of Vladimir Viktorovich Petrov. In 2009, he graduated from the K. S. Lopushansky Feature Film Directing Workshop at the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television. In 2015, he made his debut film at the Lenfilm film studio.
He has shot more than 150 commercials and 3 full-length feature films. Laureate of Russian and international festivals.
Director Statement
My grandparents survived the siege of Leningrad. This film is a tribute of gratitude and respect to their feat and the feat of all Leningraders.
