Our Film Festival
“History – International Film Festival Austria” is a seven days festival, with 7 online screening days, interviews and 1 day with on-site screenings in an open air museum, including an award ceremony. The films we screen are focussed on historical themes. After our main event, films will be available online for three days more.

Best Acting
This award honours the most outstanding performance across the submitted filmes of all three timeframes.
Best Cinematography
Here we would like to appreciate the most visually stunning direction of photography and creative craftsmanship, directly behind the film camera.
Best Screenplay
Goes to the best narrative story structure, engaging plot and the most gripping viewing experience, beyond just the visual aspect.
Best Original Soundtrack
Here we award the best overall thematically, historically and emotionally fitting musical soundtrack, that has been specifically created for the film.
Best Costume Design
The most historically and cinematically applied clothes, armour and character specific historical details like a suebian hair knot, is where this award goes to.
Best Production Design
This award goes to the artist(s) who created or put together a film’s most aesthetic and accurate set, the film’s art direction, decoration and furniture.
Best Historical Worldbuilding
This award is most based on our jury’s historians’ and archaeologists’ opinions regarding the overall historically authentic appeal of the winning film.

The award for the overall best film, set in the timeframe between the Stone Age up until Late Antiquitiy.
Best Film – “Middle Ages”
The award for the overall best film, set in the timeframe between the Early Middle Ages up until the Late Middle Ages.
