Director Biography – Abby Garratt
Abby Garratt is an emerging writer and director who grew up in rural Western Australia. Paradise Valley is her first film; funded by Regional Arts WA, it was heavily inspired by historic locations throughout WA’s South West and Wheatbelt, bringing these settings to life through a story of lies, betrayal and oppression.
Driven by a connection to land that spans back to her childhood, Garratt’s stories often investigate place as a character and motif, with a focus on nature persisting throughout her written and film work.
