Director Biography – Mahmoud Moghadas Jafari
Mahmoud Moghaddas Jafari is an Iranian-Canadian researcher, writer, director, and producer with over 30 years of professional experience in documentary filmmaking. He is a member of the Iranian Documentary Filmmakers Association and the Guild of Documentary Filmmakers.
He completed his higher education in Urban Planning with a specialization in Cinema in France. His research and artistic career focuses primarily on ancient history, folklore, and the cultural diversity of ethnic groups. His documentary filmography includes works such as Niasar: From Water to Rosewater, Bandar Abbas: 14th Century, Chabahar, Waiting for Qatar, Lurestan: After the Birth of the First Son, Kashan: Glass and Flower, Torbat-e Jam: Golden Red, and Alamut Qazvin: Pomegranate Festival.
Additionally, he has produced multi-part documentary series including Living Traditions: The Role of Public Endowments in Iranian Art, Architecture, and Urban Development, A Review of Herbal Medicine History: From Antiquity to Qajar, A Look at the History of Caricature: From Antiquity to Gol-Agha, and The Impact of Islam’s Emergence on Persian Prose: From Rudaki to Iqbal.
Beyond his filmography, he has conducted extensive museum-based research across international institutions, including the Pergamon Museum (Berlin), Louvre Museum (Paris), Karlsruhe Museum, Royal Ontario Museum (Toronto), and the National Museum of Iran. He is also the author of research books such as Persian Gulf, Cradle of the Aryans and high school textbooks on television program production.
Director Statement
The Flight of Myth is the result of years of research into shared ancient heritage across Mesopotamia and ancient Iran. My goal was to show how winged figures, symbolic flight, and ancient myths transcend geographical borders to connect humanity. The included 5-minute trailer provides an insight into the background
and motivation behind this
documentary.
