Director Biography – Santiago Mazarro
Santiago Mazarro is a documentary filmmaker, screenwriter and author of historical novels. He began his professional career at Atresmedia and Boomerang TV. In 2016, he set up his own creative studio, Volcanica Media. Since then, he has written and directed the historical documentaries *1212. The Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa (2023), Príncipe de la Paz (2018) and Beti-Jai, the Forgotten Temple (2021), as well as two other feature-length films: Mientras podamos preguntar (2024) and The Smoke That Thunders (2025). He has also written the screenplay for the branded documentary Hot Spot and numerous advertising campaigns. Joanna of Castile is his latest feature-length documentary, scheduled for release in 2026. Furthermore, he has published several historical novels with the publisher Pàmies.
